My latest 8 week Sacred Erotic Dance Series began on April 18th, 2012.

20 women of all ages, shapes, sizes, and ethnicities filled the dance space to begin their own personal journey of sensual healing and empowerment, through Sacred Erotic Dance™.

After our first class ended, many of the women approached me to express their feelings of excitement, exhilaration, gratitude, and enjoyment for the emotional, mental, and physical healing power of this particular movement modality.

The conversation got me thinking about what makes Sacred Erotic Dance™ so, well…. Sacred?

There are a few different answers to that question, and they begin with understanding more about how the mind, body, & emotions work together, to create our internal and external experiences.

We are all familiar with the idea of holding tension, or stress in the body. In our shoulders, our backs, etc. We also store tension, stress, and emotions deep in the cellular tissue of our bodies. So not just the surface muscles are affected by tension, but the actual cells themselves hold trapped energy, tension, trauma, stress.

What causes stress? We often think that the cause of our stress is extrenal, and that does play a small part in it. But the true cause of stress in life is our relationship to our external life circumstances, not the circumstances themselves.

We are born into, grow-up, and live in a culture, (planet really) that has a challenging relationship with sexuality, and sexual expression.

As women, we are quite literally programmed with the subtle suggestion that “good girls don’t and bad girl’s do”.

Do what? Enjoy sex, embody sex, are empowered in sex. Right?

What subtle emotional reaction do you have when you think of “embodying sex”?

My mind immediately went to images of Jessica Rabbit, seductress, something smoky, alluring, and slightly dangerous.

Something to be regarded with caution, safe on the movie screen and in fantasy, but not real life. Something other than me.

This is an example of the subconscious, subtle programming to which I am referring. As women, we are conditioned to fear not just our own sexuality, but that of other women as well.

And we are terrified of fully embodying our sexuality (whatever that may mean), because of the social stigma we have been conditioned to accept.

Yet, we are encouraged through media that “sex sells” and we need to be “sexy” to get the right guy.

So it’s okay for us to look sexy (within certain social accepted boundaries), but not to truly own & “embody” fully empowered sexual expression.

Part of it is we simply don’t have many role models for what healthy and empowered sexuality looks like.

Our sex symbols generally have some stigma associated with them as well. Marilyn Monroe was an emotional mess, Angelina Joile is a homewrecker, etc.

And, the only women that we visually see fully engaging in sexual pleasure are porn stars, and the social stigma associated with that goes without mention.

So the point in all of this, is that, our emotional relationship to our sexuality is largely determined by our social and cultural conditioning.

And the conflicting messages that we receive growing up and living in this culture, result in a dysfunctional relationship to our sexuality as women, and an internal emotional landscape of confusion, fear, guilt, repression, curiosity, you name it.

This emotional confusion get stored in the physical body, particularly the pelvic region, as this is where we store most of our sexual-life energy.

This emotional confusion works effectively to create a sort of psychological chastity belt, that then translates to how we move in our bodies, how we “embody”.

Sacred Erotic Dance is designed to be the medicine healing cure for this. Movement is medicine, Pleasure is medicine, so we combine both of those very potent remedies into one, to create freedom, transformation, healing and growth.

The foundation of Sacred Erotic Dance™ are the 5 core pelvic movements, combined with Authentic Tantra™ methods, breath, awareness, and presence.

Each of the 5 core pelvic movements is designed to open a new area of your body, expand your range of pelvic motion, shake off the psychological chastity belt of social sexual conditioning, and liberate you to your true sensual potential as a woman.

That is what makes Erotic Dance Sacred.

It is a process of healing, transformation, personal sensual empowerment, sexual embodiment, and growth.

It is a process in which you will reclaim and reawaken aspects of yourself that have been latent, lain dormant under the unspoken suggestion by our society, that you as a women are not allowed to truly embody your divine feminine essence. That to fully embody your sexuality as a woman is not acceptable, and further more, it is not safe.

Through Sacred Erotic Dance™, you will begin to cultivate a relationship of playfulness, healthy curiosity, and self-exploration.

Together in class, we celebrate the sexiness of our sisters, as we reclaim the sexiness of ourselves.

It is an environment of co-creation, collaboration, encouragement and mutual support.

It is sacred sisterhood, the true relationship of fully empowered women.

What is Sacred about Sacred Erotic Dance? It can be unique & different for every woman, yet similar and congruent with the all.

Join me, Devi Ward and Feminine Emergence, and find out for yourself what makes Sacred Erotic Dance so very sacred.

When I first stared using sex toys many years ago, I was in the same boat. I was overwhelmed by the amount and variety of products, materials, etc. What I discovered during my process of self-discovery and sexual awakening is that; your sex toy is a tool, and like every tool it has a particular function and purpose.

So, you want to choose your sex toys/tools with the same attention to function and detail that you would apply to purchasing good hand or power tool, or because we’re women- let’s say make-up brush.

Example- you would not use an eyeliner brush to put on blush, just like you wouldn’t use a screwdriver to drive a nail into a 2×4. So, when it comes to buying sex toys, it’s important to know what your “goal” is, what result you are hoping to achieve.

In Authentic Tantra™, our goal is to explore and expand our sensual boundaries, using pleasure as medicine to heal and remove any “blocks to bliss”, which are limitations or “traumas” that may inhibiting our ability to fully exprience our sexuality, our pleasure, or even life itself.

Below are seven great sexy toys for supporting the accomplishment of that “goal”.

What I LOVE about these toys, is that they are awesome for both solo and partner play, so they are multi-purpose and cost effective.

Also- as Tantra is a path of healing, all of these choices are completely “green” meaning- They are body-safe, phthalate free, petro-chemical free, toxin free.

Here are my top 7 Sex Toys for Tantra. Click on the link to learn more about purchasing each toy. Also- Enter the name DEVI at checkout and enter to win a FREE Sacred Erotic Dance DVD!

For opening the G-spot-

#1) The crystal honey dipper wand…deluxe. The angle on this toy makes it superb for direct g-spot stimulation. There is just nothing else like it for the initial stages of reawakening your g-spot. 100% lucite, which makes it light-weight (easy on the wrist), non-porous, body-safe, easy to sterilize. The absolute best toy on the market for opening and activating the g-spot in women AND men! Also- it’s only $35! Can’t beat that.

#2) The Gi-ki by Je Joue- Smooth yet firm, with a wide, soft head makes this toy awesome for direct g-spot stimulation. I like this one a little later in the session, when my g-spot is already nice and engorged, and I am wanting more depth and fullness than the crystal wand can provide. If your g-spot is already pretty juicy, I recommend this toy to keep it going, and take it to the next level!

For the A-spot and deep penetration

#3) The Elise by Lelo- Just past the g-spot, is a little piece of heaven called ‘the A-spot’. Usually somewhat difficult to reach, the Elise makes that sweet bliss easier to access. Also hits all those juicy deep areas at the back of the vagina, that rarely get as much love and attention as they need. Another 100% medical grade silicone, non-porous, body safe toy.

#4) The Mona by Lelo- Same idea as the Elise, with less depth and more of an angle, makes it great for g-spot play as well as A-spot.

For clitoral stimulation

#5) The Siri & Lily by Lelo- Similar design on both vibes, small, compact, fits in the palm of your hand. The Siri has medical grade silicone tip, Lily features body safe, ABS velvet smooth finish. The Lily is smaller that The Siri, and slightly easier to clean, as the control panel is placed differently on the design, It does not have as many functions as The Siri though.

#6) The Jimmy Jane form 3- This one is on My wish list. 1005% medical grade silicone make the entire vibrator hummmm…! This is better than your finger, in so many ways. Awesome for solo & partner play.

For Lubricant-

#7) Sliqiud Organics, or Almost Naked- Lube makes the ride so smooth! Externally and internally. If you aren’t using our FREE Sex Passion Vancouver Lube recipe, or maybe you just ran out, these are my top 2 picks for body safe, natural, yummy lubes!

Literally Tantra means, “to weave”- light and sound with form. The literal definition refers to meditative practices, which use visualization (light), mantra (sound), and the body of the practitioner (form), to achieve states of mental and emotional clarity, or enlightenment.

Tantric Movement classes are designed to incorporate both the literal and general meanings of the word Tantra.

In the general sense we will be practicing specific yoga’s, (movements) that are designed to enhance sexuality by cultivating strength and tone of the entire body, most specifically the muscles associated with and around the pelvis.

Strong pelvic floor & vaginal muscles are essential for enhanced sexual pleasure, as they support greater orgasmic ability, intensity, and control, for both men and women. Further adding to the benefit of these physical exercises is the use of the Jade Ben Wa Balls for women.

Ben Wa Balls greatly enhance the efficacy of Kegal type exercises, by giving the body an object to “grip” and tense around. According to Taoist practices, the energetic quality of Jade is yang, and by placing it in the most yin area of a woman’s body, helps to create a harmonious overall balance.

Doing Jade Ben Wa Ball exercises is especially recommend for women who have given birth, or who have vaginal pain or dryness, as the energetic quality of the Jade acts to soothe, heal and strengthen.

In addition to these physical practices we will incorporate The Secret Tibetan Five Element Teachings.

The Tibetan Five Element teachings are a form of chakra yoga, based on the elements of fire, earth, water, air and space. These are the very elements, which make up our human form and everything in our environment.

Each of the five elements has a specific color, shape and sound, to which we will add the yoga of movement.

Each element corresponds to a particular quality of movement, and the intention of these classes is to explore those variations in depth. Using these sounds and visualizations also has the result of activating, enriching, and healing all the energy centers of the body.

Tantric Movement classes combine these Esoteric Teachings with the other element of pure fun!

Joy and pleasure are the inspiration that open the body to greater range of motion, greater flexibility, greater endurance, and greater health.

All movement exercises in these classes are designed to be an exploration and a celebration of your Self, while deepening the connection between body, heart, and mind.

Please see my classes page for more info. about Events in your area!

Most of us are not consciously aware of the direct correlation between how we move our bodies, and the thoughts or emotions we are experiencing.

Imagine if you will, walking down a busy street, a hallway at the office, or just around your own home.

How often are we “lost in thought”?

How often are we following an internal dialogue about our lives, our partners, our children, those people at work, and unaware of what our physical body is doing and feeling?

Conversely, how often do we stride through life with power and purpose, feeling deeply connected with a sense of self that goes beyond the mind, beyond our self-concepts, a place in which we feel rested, calm and connected?

How and what we think and feel about ourselves is directly expressed in our physical body.

When we feel happy and free our body may feel light and fluid, when we are feeling tired or depressed, the body may feel heavy and slow.

Most body workers know and agree that emotions are stored or “locked’ in the body, and when our range of motion is limited by pain or discomfort in a certain area, chances are a stored emotion is responsible for this block.

Feminine Emergence and Sacred Erotic Dance are tools for awakening awareness of your sensual self, and thus revealing areas in which that sensual expression is limited or blocked.

We begin by placing focus on the central channel, the core of our life force, and learn to move outward from this source. Using the 5 core pelvic movements, we uncover limitations in our range of motion.

We then use our breath and Tantric visualizations to bring consciousness and light to these areas, facilitating growth and healing.

Once the core movements become more comfortable, we begin infusing them with energy, focusing on the molten power of human sensuality, allowing this unlocked Chi to run freely throughout the body.

Through this we begin cultivating awareness of the relationship between movement and intention, infusing the external movement with the internal essence.

Many Sacred Erotic & Feminine Emergence Dance students have shared that developing this awareness of movement enriches many other aspects of their lives.
